Is there anyone else in a band on here. I have been in one before and am now in a new one. My new band is "The Autumnatics" as in The Automatics. My old one was called "Ottomann" after Otto from The Simpson's. I play guitar and am the lead vocalist of the band. Other members are:

Matt (me)/guitar and vocals
Grady/bass and vocals
Checkers (Allie)/Backing guitar and occasional vocals
Aarto/Drums and finnish
If anyone else is in a band please post, you can like do what I did or not, but go for it!

My friend and I are trying to organize a band. I play guitar and have only been for almost a year, and he plays drums. We're trying to find a 2nd guitarist (doesn't matter to me who's lead) and a bassist, but so far have had no luck. We were thinking of going either with Take 5 and Die or CMD (Camden's Most Dangerous) as a band name, as we are going to play hard rock/metal.

I'm not really in a band per se, but I play bass while my brother plays guitar and my cousin is a drummer. We also have a rhythm guitarist but he isn't usually needed unless we are playing Maiden covers.

I started a band and I was originally vocalist. Then I got a good guitar so I was lead guitarist and now I'm lead guitarist and vocals. Then my friend Keenan also plays guitar so he'll be rhythm with occasional main guitar parts. Finally my cousin Ben also plays guitar. 3 guitarists=not a band.

My other cousin Matt is in a band and he's a freak when it comes to music. Put a kazoo in front of him and I swear he'll figure out how to play it. But anyway, he has guitars, drums, and a bass so he's recording his album with him doing everything and his buddy Lou doing vocals. When he starts playing shows, he'll find a live band, so that's what I'm doing. I just bought a bass and I inherited Matt's 1st drum set for Easter so I'm almost all set.

As for songs, we have wayy too many guitar parts and not enough vocals for them and we have no clue what to name the band.

Skynyrd made it work with 3 guitars, what says you can't? Why not use 1 for lead, one for rhytm, and another just to add another melody into the songs?

Well, the music would be significantly heavier than Skynard, but we're trying to make it work. We'll just see how it goes.

Iron Maiden have 3 guitarists too, and it works fine, so i doubt you'll have too many problems.

Good, because once you have been playing an instrument heavily, it's hard to make a switch easily. Sure, I'll play drums on the album, but live I would have to play guitar because I would never remember my own drum beats...

I just wasn't sure if many rock bands had 3 guitarists. Like Slipknot is heavy to all hell, but they have 2 guitarists. So I guess we'll keep the three! :D

"Heavy" sounds aren't defined by the number of guitarists. Look at Bad Religion, they are a punk band with three guitarists (only god knows why) and they have a melodic sound. Maiden is heavy, but at the same time, much more melodic than most metal bands.

If you want a heavy sound, just play lower power chords and muddle it a bit with the amps. Also have the bass player stick to low notes on the E string. You could get the heaviest sound you wanted with one guitarist and a bassist if you tried. I personally don't like to lower the sounds, I'm all for standard tuning and melodies. But whatever floats your boat.
