Hey sleeker, I need to split this thread, since it's over 100 posts.
After you're next post, I'll do it. I'll save maybe the 5 most recent posts, and the first post, k? Just giving you a heads up. If you need anything else or any q's put it in your next post.

Question 217 is correct for 1 point. There was only one survivor of the battle. Ohtar and his companion left as the orcs were drawing closer. Their purpose was to bring the shards of Narsil to Rivendell.

226. In Quenya, Telerin Elves that refused to cross the terrifying Misty Mountains were called the Nandor or "Those who go back."
227. I would always say Feanor was the greatest of the Noldo, most powerful, most renown, and so forth, but if he isn't the greatest, then I would guess his half-brother Fingolfin might be.

Question 228, 230, and 231 are correct for 4 points. Ingwe is a Vanya (plural: Vanyar), not a Noldo (plural: Noldor), which is another group of Elves that went to Aman, but never left (save for the battle at the end of the First Age). Thorongil burned a bunch of ships at Umbar with a small fleet from Gondor and killed the captain on the docks (I believe).

Shorkut got one part of question 222 correct for 1 point (the coming of the Noldo into Beleriand, which is where they chased Morgoth to). The other two parts for question 222 is a bit more obscure. Question 239 is not Tulkas. He was the last Valar to enter in The Silmarillion. In the Book of Lost Tales, the Valar includes all of the Maiar (I believe, if not, then the last of the Maiar to enter Ea). If I give any sort of hint for 227, they answer will be really easy, so I'll try and think of one that wouldn't completely give it away. Can't find my book for the lineage, so I'll try to find that next time I update.

Another good guess, but it's incorrect. The answer involves Feanor, but it's probably not what'd you expect. I believe I got it from the chapter about Galadriel in the book called Unfinished Tales of Numenor and Middle-Earth.

Incorrect, but nice guess.
237. Elves?
Elves - nice. Melko(r) - mean. Melkor put something bad into the world. There's a hint in here somewhere, but I'll see if any of you catch it.

And I'll never forget Gimli son of Gloin son of Groin

What the movie calls the battle for Helm's Deep is actually the battle of the Hornburg. But if you were just talking about the place name, I think that works.
I think there were three elves at the Hornburg: Legolas and Elrond's sons Elladan and Elohir who rode south with the Grey Company. Movie scratches the Grey Company, adds lotsa elves from Lothlorien.
3. the swan-knights of dol amroth helped faramir on his way back to the city, but i don't count that as rescuing
If that's right, you might want to come up with a single name still. :)
