If there is something going on here at GameWinners you feel deserves its own announcement you can post your request here. We'll look over it and see if it is worthy of making an announcement. Otherwise, remember that you can always advertise things going on around GW (like a quiz you have going on, or your favorite forum) in your signature.

For your announcement we'll need:
1) A reason why you feel like this should be made into a forum-wide announcement.
2) You to make the announcement and post it with your request.
3) The dates you would like the announcement to run.
4) The title for the announcement.
Putting something in about you being the contact person probably wouldn't hurt either because otherwise we get PMs from people asking questions about the announcement that we can't always answer.

Just a note: We will not do announcements for birthdays or post counts unless its something truly major and spectacular.

Now that the game is actually released, could we have another Metal Gear Solid 4 announcement, please?

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b296/MasterShakespeare/Cover_Jap_MGS4.jpg

Set in the year 2014, five years removed from the events in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots portrays a world where nanotechnology has become prominent, both to enhance the capabilities and enforce the loyalty of mercenaries. The nanomachine system that PMCs use is called "Sons of the Patriots" or "SOP". The five largest of these PMCs (Praying Mantis, Otselotovaya Khvatka, Werewolf, Pieuvre Armement and Raven Sword) are owned by a single mother company named Outer Haven, operated by Liquid Ocelot. Amassing an army whose manpower rivals that of the United States, Liquid prepares to launch an armed insurrection by taking control of SOP. With the world once again in crisis, a rapidly aging and disillusioned Solid Snake is deployed into the Middle East by Roy Campbell to terminate Liquid.

Facing the threat of terrorists who wish to control the world, there is truly "No place to hide!" in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots!

If you could put it up June 23rd and have it run for a couple weeks, I'd appreciate it.

You can title it The newest terrorist threat!

Thanks a lot. :)

Did it last year, doing it again this year. Wanted to wait until after the upgrade to do it, and now that its happened, here's an announcement I'd like to be up for a month:

Title:
Pro and College Football Pick'em back for 2008! Spreads, too!

Message:

http://h1.ripway.com/Rick52/pickemspread.PNG

NFL Pick'em - now in its 4th year
http://forums.gamewinners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=569967

NFL Spread - first full year
http://forums.gamewinners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=569968

College Pick'em - back for year three
http://forums.gamewinners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=569969

College Spread - for the first time ever
http://forums.gamewinners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=569970

The more the merrier! Last year had over 40 people sign up for the Pro game and over 20 for the College game. Let's get even more for all four games this year! Sign ups last for around a month! Don't miss out!

-Rick52 (http://forums.gamewinners.com/forums/member.php?u=43217), heading all four games

This has always been hell to set up using the Forums, so an IRC channel sure is nice. It'd also be nice to have this up for one month if possible.

The Official Super Smash Bros. IRC Channel

Join the best Smashers of Gamewinners in a real-time IRC chat so you can set up matches right then and there without the hassle of waiting for your opponent post in the thread back and forth!

More information here (http://forums.gamewinners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=571405)!

Let's see, how about Super Smash Bros. IRC Channel as a title?

I'm going to consider that. The main thing screaming out at me at this point is that it would work far better as a sticky in the forum itself rather than a forum wide announcement. I could even be an announcement in the forum itself and no where else, which the forum moderator can set up.

I agree. Especially since it is an off-site type deal on IRC.

Right, well with that consensus we'll just say advise that you make a sticky about it in the SSB forum. It's not suitable for a forum wide announcement.

Done. The topic now stickied in the SSB Wi-Fi forum.

Do you want a glittery announcement with that, or just plain text? The latter wouldn't be very Christmasy if you ask me.

I don't have any humorous images to add to it, just add size 7 red and bold, or something.

Alright, putting it on hold for a couple of days until the official sign up threads are up, then I'll make something more formal.

Alright ready to go. Maybe make the announcement title "GW Secret Santa game"

Welcome to GW's Secret Santa

Current Events and General Discussion is hosting two versions of the beloved game.

Gag Gift Game: (http://forums.gamewinners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=574912) Is a game with a $5-10 spending limit and gag gifts are sent.

Real Secret Santa: (http://forums.gamewinners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=574913) Is the version of the game where you submit a couple things you would like to receive within a $10-20 limit.

Shipping costs are not included in the limits.

Sign-ups end December 9th, with addresses to be sent out December 10th. This leaves two weeks for gifts to be sent out.

All are welcomed to join. (Even you far away Europeans!) So sign up in one thread or both if you want!

And it would probably be best to run it till December 9th.

I'd like an announcement to run for a contest I want to run during the holidays, announcement ending December 28th.

Win a Premium Membership. Get in the Holiday spirit.

So, in the spirit of the Holidays, I'd like to have a little contest. The prize(in case you couldn't figure it out) a PREMIUM MEMBERSHIP. Here's what I want you all to do to win this PREMIUM MEMBERSHIP.

I would like you all to PM me your holiday-themed short stories. I will read through EVERY SINGLE ENTRY and choose which one I like the best. The top three(3) authors will each win a PREMIUM MEMBERSHIP. I'm not going to give any specific guidelines, as I will leave it up to the entrants to decide if their story is sufficient.

Only December holidays, please(that's Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa.) Remember that this contest will be held forum-wide, so there could possibly be many entrants, don't enter if you're not aiming to win

3) Now till New Years Eve.
4) Mario Kart Wii Holiday Tournament!

I think Chill Penguin has already purchased a few premium memberships, can we clarify that he's still running it?

I didn't notice that his post is a week old. Might be worth that clarification.
