GWPS Heads-Up Tournament
ROUND 2

Alrightie, not really taking over for Tom, but he's a little down at the moment, so I'm getting round two started on his behalf. You must confer with your opponent on game times. You do not need me around to play. Try to play at convenient times to keep things fair. Now for some rules and guidelines:

This is a best of three. So the first person to win 2 games moves on while the other is eliminated from the tournament.
When the match is over, I would like both players to post to confirm results so we don't have one person trying to cheat. Please post how many games it took, who won which games, etc.
Blinds are to be $50 NL at all times. You will also be sitting in with 1000 each game. No more, no less.
You must meet deadlines that I give. If you are having issues contacting your opponent, let me know. I will try to contact them.

The game is open as of now, once again your opponent is posted in the bracket thread in round two. The deadline for these games is only FIVE days so it will close on April 18th. Try and have your games finished, and if you finish quick, we'll move up.

USE THIS THREAD TO DISCUSS/CONFER WITH YOUR OPPONENTS AND POST RESULTS. DO NOT SPAM IT UP OR I WILL START DELETING POSTS AND WARNING PEOPLE.

Sicky, since CnR is sucking for all play accounts, shall we use our money accounts?

Hey Canuck canadaguy... er, I don't think you have my AIM, MSN, or whatever messenger you use. It's in my profile nonetheless.

Regardless, I'm usually good to go after 9:00 PM Eastern time.

Lost to Shak.

Me and Coleman finished up. Two straight wins. Can't really think of much else to say... no witty comments... expect I damn well enjoyed that game.

Oh, and Cole, I'm giving up the Daving.

Hey Benzine, I'm cool with using the real money account if the play ones aren't working. I just don't have a lot of play money on the real money one.

What time and day is good for you? I'm on a mini break from class this weekend, so any day but Saturday would be good for me. Today or tomorrow at anytime would be better than Sunday though. Just PM me or respond in here.

Yeah, I noticed that too. It would be great if you lost your first game now and proved everyone wrong :).

I didn't actually mean it, Eye. I wanted to play you heads up :(.

I'm over it. I really have too much anxiety going on in my life in the past couple of months that has really given me a lack of focus/confidence. It should all clear up by the end of this month, so hopefully I can rebound.

And congrats Shak, mighty impressive knocking off Cole.

Velocity got me, 2 games to 1.

He took the first, I took the second, then he won the rubber match.

Yeah... what canadaguy said. The third game was easily the best of the bunch though, it went back and forth for a good little while. I'd get him down to about $500 or $600 only to have him equalize it again, and then the process would repeat. Finally got him down to next-to-nothing with a K-8 two pair against a pair of kings and then finished with an A-K two pair.

It was a great game, good job. :^:

Sickster won, twice in a row. He might explain what happened.

What he said. I caught way too much. It was ridiculous on its own level. Let me set it up for you. First game my third or fourth hand is pocket Aces on the button. I just limp and he raises. The flop comes 10 A 10. I flop the full house. He bets on the flop and I just call. The turn comes and he bets a smaller amount and I am pretty sure I went all in. He saves himself some money by folding there, which I give him props for because most people would feel pot committed and then go broke. He stayed at about $350 for a few hands when we would both raise when we were on the button with good hands but the BB would have sh*t. Then he had 77 and I had A8 so it was a race pre flop, but I caught an A on the flop.

The second game I started on the button with AQ and raised it. he folded so I started with a lead. Next hand I had J8 and called his raise. I checked the flop which was 987 so I had a pair and a gut shot straight draw. He bets and I call. The turn is a 10, giving me the straight and four to the straight on the board. He bets again, and I just call. The river comes a 4 and I bet a smaller amount, and he raises all in. I won with the jack high straight.

Not much you could do when I caught a full house and a straight. Good games, Benzine, since you played aggressive (which is what you need to do while heads up) but I just kept catching.

Tough break Benzine. You were one that I thought could take out BTS early. Congrats on the win, BTS.

Now if we could just get the other 3 games finished, please. I really don't want this thing dragging out, which it seems to be doing.

joe and i tried to get it to work over the weekend but it wasn't letting me in at first and them him later. we are both probably free tomorrow so we will try to have it then

Oh. Also, with Sicky's good luck, my best hand preflop, was like J8.

Yeah, that was making it tought for us as well since it is constantly down lately. Luckily, we both have real money accounts, and those are always working.

Oh. Also, with Sicky's good luck, my best hand preflop, was like J8.

I believe you. I suppose that having those hands didn't help you being aggressive and me slow playing a flopped full house. It really was the most luck I've ever had on CnR.

I beat Cluck, 2-0. Good game.

Cluck.
April 17th, 2006, 09:27 PM
Yeah, he beat me. I found early in the first game that my style of heads up wouldn't work against him, and I had to change completely.

Me and Kut just played.... at 1 o clock in the morning maybe 2 for him. But I won both games. I tried to keep the pressure on him, I had a lot of all ins when i was down in chips and it ended up helping me.

yeah, after 2AM for me. so what if i said i wasn't going to post, what are you gonna do , sue me?

anyway, the first game was quick, i was crippled on like the second hand, i forgot what either of us had, but i lasted very few hands after that

in the second game, he had me crippled then i had him crippled and we kept on alternating for a while. we kept doubling up the other person then finally he had a higher 2 pair than mine to kill me, i was expecting to double up again. i think i would have had twice his amount then.

i told him before we started that he had a chance since i was tired. it looks like he saw his window of opportunity and jumped through it :(

Again, this was set up to be a great match. I really think that if kut was more alert and playing his game, it would have gotten to the third game. But I know Joe is a very good situational player... it really could have gone either way.

Cole's right, JDJ was pretty good. I never really knew what he had, and we played LIGHTNING fast games. I won the first game, got blown away by Aces in the second, and won the last.

WLW for me then, so I guess I get to face Tran. Finally starting the next round!

Definitley a good game by both parties. I thought JDJ was gonna make a comeback in Game 1. Nice games.
