Database glitch

Alright, where to start...

We've always had a problem with the ad-companies that Gamewinners gets their forum-profit through running some dodgy ads, whether that be pornography or just plain slow ads.

However, one ad that was added to the cycle today ate up so much resources when someone attempted to load it, that it not only crashed the database but caused the server to hang.

Our host could not get the server to reboot, and within a few minutes told us that it wasn't going to come back online, period. They thankfully got to work quickly on moving us to another server and transfering as much of the backed-up-data as possible.

So, we got all the posts back, but the member accounts are pretty screwed. Everyone's still technically registered, but all the information regarding them is gone.

I'm working on a solution to get the problem fixed, but it could take a while.

Our host has found a partial backup file from last month, which will restore at least 98% of our member-base to how they were previously.

I'm about to run some queries to merge the two together, so hopefully if all goes smoothly, things will be restored within the next 5 minutes.

I was here! I saw it! It was a VBulletin message rght around 10AM, I clicked User CP, and it showed up like any other vBulletin messages

Due to a malicius Ad, this Server has been locked up. Blah Blah Blah, we are currently backing up the files, some may be lost in the transaction. Blah Blah Blah, sorry for the inconvience, the Gamewinners Administration team.

By the way, what was the Ad? Was it that slither one that takes up the whole screen?

I didn't have to worry about everybody's name being Guest. Since I was using Threaded mode, I could still tell who posted.
