I thought it would be a good idea to have a poker help thread. Everybody here is at various experience levels, and some know how to play better than others. Also, I know a lot of the people who post in this forum like to play different styles, so I think this might help make everybody's game a little bit better. For example, I myself know that I can't play loosely NEARLY as well as Tran can.

So if anybody has a question regarding a certain situation they were in as to whether they made the right call/fold, this is the thread for it. Also, I think it would be cool if people would just post a little bit about how they play the game, maybe spread the knowledge a little bit. Nobody here is a professional, I'm sure we could all use help in some situations.

Now, there will be situations posted here will some people would have called and others would have folded. That's okay, as long as you justify your argument a little bit. I personally know that I run into a ton of situations where I'm not entirely sure what to do, I'm curious to see how some of the players here would have done it.

So if you like, post a little bit about what types of cards you'll play when you are playing tight, loose, shortstacked, or chip leader. Also how you bluff (pre-flop all the way to the river, or will you fold when re-raised?) etc. I'm sure you guys get the idea. I'll post a little bit of my own personal style in a little bit.

Cluck.

No, I mean, I already have reads on just about everyone here and I trust those more than what someone may post. Honestly I just think that a lot of people have different strengths than others and that we could learn from each other a bit.

This is not about agression or playing style, but I find it a nice piece of mantra to keep in my head.

It's pretty important to me never to show my cards if I don't have to. When I was a rookie, it would be just the opposite, but now I just see it as a way of broadcasting information that benefits my opponents. There is an exception, and that's when I bluff an opponent out of a large pot. Partly to show off, but it's really so they might be more inclined to call later pots, letting me mix it up a little with conservative 'real' bets.

Of course, this never applies when I play with friends and family, because we're playing for fun, much less competitively.

a lot of what i will call with has to do with the read i have on other people. if i get a read that someone bluffs a lot, i will probably call with a hand that might not be the best but has many outs. if the person makes a rock looks loose then i probably won't call even with a hand that some people might consider very good. it all depends on the read i have from the person and what the pot/bet size is
