Ok I been playing guitar for like 8 years no
i have an acoustic (guild) and electric (stratocaster) and am in a band (vaginal influence (if u live near houston, u can see us in rockshows at dunbar park ))
but like, why is it that everytime i talk to people and they find out i play, err i cant figure out wat makes me mad...sec
ok, i got some friends i used to play jedi academy with, and they always treat me like shi* and that is one thing
also lotsa people i tell them i play, and there first reaction is to prove they better than me
also my friends bro just started, and i taught him lotsa cool stuff, and now he gets all cocky and says he just as good as me
its weird but it pisses me offff
i think thats it
i duno i kinda got some problem ( i been to many doctores, but they cant figure anything ) and like i go crazy someitmes and start crying on the floor and stuff. i think thats all, i feel sad all the time.

I don't think this belongs here. I'm not sure where it does belong.. this really doesn't focus on music, more like a depressed anger problem. You might check in The Anwser Guys. you might get more anwsers/discussion there.

err yea, but it seems everyone who plays guitar, wants to make everyone think they better than them, and i guess its understandable, but its gay how everyone i try to have a conversation about guitar with makes it a competition..
like some people online friends, say like "yea bindo, u may play guitar, but i never heard u play, so u prolly suck "
if u follow me

Well, you have to lighten up, though. Guitarists are generally cocky by trade. If you can't handle it, be a bassist like me. No one ever expects the bassist to be mind-blowing and show off. That is where you blow them away.

Its not that i suck or anything, but like it gets annoying how everytime i meet someone, they always trying to out do me and i always feel stress as if i am not learning as fast as i can and its all messy up there (points to head)

sry for Dp, but the thing about guitarist, i kinda am prejudice, like i always feel like i dont want to be "just another guitarist" like at church and stuff, everyone is always fighting over who's best, but only me and my friend actualy have "skill", otherwise, it seems like all guys play guitar... and i dont wana be just another guy with a guitar...
like wat pisses me off, is when plain people are all like..."yea i play guitar" and "i cant wait to go home and play guitar!" "yea, i playing guitar now" "so, wat did u do this weekd? I played guitar all weekend!!!"
and its like wtfff!!!!! I hate that i just want it to be guitarists and people who don't play...not like, people who play, people who say they play, and people who don't play!
I sometiems too get cocky if i get pissed, like thres this fat guy, and he is just a nother guy and he was showing off with iron man (easiest song ever) so i busted a Classical gas in his ass (lol sounds funy) and afterwards i felt like, man i just like tat fat guy to someoneelse..
so its like i can NEVER learn enough, and its not like i learn something new everyday which makes me feel as if i not learning ANYTHIng.
and the first thing people do when they find i play, is judge on how good i am without even hearing me.
thers this freshman named andrew, and he is cool and all, but he always trying to show me off and he cant even play pink panther theme right (he doesnt let ring) and it pisses me off
i feel like i need to show everyone how good i am, and it destroys my passion for guitar, and i always stresssed about wat people think of me.
ok i think tats enough for now

He's pissed because everyone plays guitar, and everyone's the best on the planet.

It shouldn't matter. There are people better that others at instruments. He has to get out of that mindset that is bothering him. If you genuinely like to play, why should you let other people who play bother you? So what if they brag that they are better? A real musician would just play and shut them up rather than get mad about it.

Man, it's not about being better than other people. Thats not what music is about. It's about the love, just enjoy what you do even if no one else does. There's no reason to care what people think about you.
...Or, if all else fails, be a loser like Tom and play bass.

Hey, I'd like to see you play some Rush on bass. That stuff is more complicated than most guitar today. It's not all easy. :(

Sounds like you need to quit worrying about what other people think of you. Just keep playing the music you love and ignore the rest.
Also, loser bass players FTW! *High Five*

F*ck the world.
About the other guitarists. Play a kick-ass solo or a really tough song that you have mastered and then go, "Try that if you think you are so good!"

Yeah, at least I'm not a rhythmless guitarist. Without me, you'd just be playing riffs and missing your timing and transitions.
Bastard.

I could get a keyboardist to fill in for you! Make some sweet Alt.-Jazz music.

February 16th, 2006, 10:15 AM
Yeah? Well I don't need anyone to fill in for you, I could just grab me an acoustic and make some sweet soft music.

Acoustic sucks. There are too many cliche songs with them. Now if you could make a metal song with a lead acoustic, I'd be impressed.

Win.
Turning metal songs acoustic only works if you don't start f*cking about with the song, and arpeggiating (what?) every chord.
