Please do not discuss any titles that take place chronologically later than this one. We’ll get to them all soon enough, so there’s no reason to spoil it for anyone else (most notably... me :tease2:.)

I like quite a lot of things about this book… the formation of a new Rebellion, Jaina coming to terms with her mother’s motherliness, the seeming crystallization that Jaina and Kyp aren’t going to fall in love and get married.

I guess I just like it as a book of resolutions and, as girly as it is, I kinda like that they've taken steps to dance around the whole Jaina/Jag thing... I'm certain that it won't enjoy any sort of resolution, but it's still nice to get some of it out of the way.

Now, as cool as it must be to conceive of these elaborate plots and as much as the writers must want to keep it a secret from us, I'm still not sure the end result always comes across too clearly--this is one of those instances.
I don't think I have a clue what the purpose of that big-weapon-thingy was. Perhaps it'll make more sense later, or maybe I missed something (which seems more likely).

And Kyp more powerful than Luke?
What the freaking heck?

Otherwise, a good book... Jaina was much more interesting in this book than she was in Dark Journey--but I'm ready for her to shoot more Force lightning :)

Kyp is more powerful, but Luke is alot smarter about his power and its use. And with that "big-weapon-thingy", do you mean with the lambent crystal? That comes later.

What I dont get is why they capitalize on the whole Goddess thing with Jaina. She would be hunted down regardless because she is the twin of Jacen and a Jedi. With Tsavong's obsession over the jedi, the goddess part would take a back seat to it.

I think it was about the psychological effect... sure she was going to be hunted down, but she also wanted to freak 'em out.

And I don't think Kyp is more powerful... Luke is the grandson of the Force--it doesn't seem possible that Kyp is more powerful.

Remember that the scene where it says Kyp is more powerful is from Kyps point of view. If i wanted i could say i was stronger than Arnold Shwartzeneggar(SP?) that doesn't make it true.

True, but it also happened in a moment of supposed self-honesty... and he DID do something that Luke had trouble with... it seems that the author believes that Kyp is more powerful.

Maybe Kyp is the Chosen One.

hmmm... so you think maybe Kyp may be Uncle Owen's long lost illegitimate son?

That makes a lot of sense, actually, I think we should run with this.

This book wasn't too bad, I quite enjoyed it. Not as good as Star By Star but good none the less. I liked the idea of a new Rebellion, hope it happens.

Yeah, I think they realized that Star Wars needs to be the Rebellion and not the Empire... up to this point it's just sorta an Empire vs. another Empire... neither seems to be the best option for a winner other than the fact that we're supposed to be on the side of the Jedi.

The thing about Kyp being the most powerful was really stupid too. I mean Lukes dad was created by the Force itself, you can't get much better than that. I didn't like the lack of any big ground fight, just a bunch of little space battles then the final battle which wasn't much of a battle. About to star Rebel Stand, looking at it over on my dresser now.
