In your opinion, what is the easiest guitar riff to play? I'm pretty sure that it is Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple.

True. Plus if you learn Back In Black you know pretty much almost half of ACDC's songs...

The whole song is damn easy.
Also, a lot of SoaD stuff is easy, ditto a lot of Metallica's stuff from 'St. Anger'.

Boston-Peace of mind is pretty easy

i bet all you n00bs are thinking of the smoke on the water bass line. the guitar line is a lil bit harder, but not much
its not just 035 0365 035 30 on the e-string
Cluck.

Iron man is pretty easy too.

Iron man and Smoke on the water ARE the same song. I'm thinking the easiest riff is the bass line from the Blues Brothers. Or maybe Day Tripper by the Beatles
Cluck.
June 2nd, 2005, 11:22 PM
no they're not.

Jesus...please don't tell me you use tabs like that.
I use tabs like that, but I suck. I'm not good enough yet to learn by ear and I'm too lazy to learn all the symbols for the notes. School occupies too much of my life, but I don't want to drop out just so I can get better at guitar.
But back to the easiest riff thing. I'd say the intro to Smoke on the Water is the easiest I know. Whole Lotta Love's pretty easy. That and parts of Stairway to Heaven.

I use guitar tabs too, but I get mine from www.powertabs.net.
You have to download the PowerTab Editor program first, but it's worth it.

one of the easiest songs i know is cream - unshine of your love
or Creedence Clearwater Revival - Down on the corner two very easy songs to play
other extremely easy songs to play that are heavier are Slipknot - gently, the MFKR version is easier than the iowa version
many of panteras songs are quite easy
Iron butterfly - inna-gadda-da-vida tres facile
all of the acdc songs are easy as well

Riffs, yes. Songs, no.
Some of the solos are insane.

Some of the solos are insane.
most of them can be easy too, depends on which type of guitar youre using...if youre using a fender Strat, the solos can be done very easily...
ive got a Strat, and a gibson SG, the strat is easy for solos and such, the sg is more forgiving and amazing for the riffs...it all depends on which types of guitars and pick-ups you use to finish solos better
Wildchild
June 7th, 2005, 02:02 PM
What?
The only things that would affect how easy a solo is are gauge of string, neck width and the action of the guitar. The pick-ups would affect how good the solo sounds.

The end of Stairway To Heaven is 1 chord (forget which one) on 3 different frets over and over again.
Then it's not the same chord.
And anyway, it's not the same fingering. I think it goes Am, G, F.

for more easy songs, how bout Everclear - watch the world die (i think thats what its called)
deadeye dick - new age girl
aerosmith - eat the rich
Dave Wilcox - do the bearcat (haha, i cant help but laugh when i play this)
play that funky music white boy..... :)
many of greendays songs, all of those are all easy to play the whole song
metallicas songs, the whole song might be a little tough (though its very repetitive) seek and destroy is quite easy. ONE is simple enough, the solo was hard to get down pat though
