White Rose
March 25th, 2005, 02:38 AM
Welcome to theFull Metal Alchemist Club!

Hi I'm White Rose, and I'd like to welcome everyone to the FMA club! Brought to you by an idea from yours truly, and backed by support from our old now non-existant FMA usergroup! This group loves the anime Full Metal Alchemist, and this is what we talk about on here! If you are already a fan, or a newcomer to the world of FMA, or to anime altogether, then come and learn about the show, hang out with others who share your interests, and have fun at the same time!

What we do:

Well duh, talk about anything FMA related! ^_^

Activities:

So far we have episode discussions, and upcoming quiz games, hangman's, and RP writing. We have one currently started. More activities are sure to follow soon!

Leaders of FMA:

White Rose, Confused God, and Angelic Aura

Members:

Ion
Kevin1292
Slowhand
McCloud
Larry Legend
Cecil DK Knight
Crystal Magician
Zelda
cepussinboots

Rules of the Club:

*Sorry, we gotta have them. . . . sigh*

1. Spam: This word reffers to a post that you make simply to add to your post count that are either one word, have nothing to do with the topic we are currently discussing, or bumps a very old and dead topic. Leaders will give a few warnings before asking members to leave the club for a little while. Repeat violators will be kicked out of the club, so try very hard to keep spam to a minimum.
2. Flaming: This means bashing any member, or what they have to say about something. Remember that everyone on here is an actual person in real life, and you might tick someone off, or hurt their feelings. You may give reasons to why you agree/disagree with their opinions, as long as the arguement doesn't get totally out of control. If any member and or leader has any unsettled arguement with another person, take it to the Thunderdome, and leave it out of here, please. Again, a few warnings will be given out, and if ignored, you will be asked to leave. Repeat violators will be removed from the members list.
3. Sexual/racial remarks: This is just wrong, not to mention rude and gross. Keep the dirt out of here. Meaning, don't even think about posting something nasty or offensive about another member, or you will get kicked out of the club. ONE warning only for this, just FYI. Again, take any undisputed arguement to the thunderdome!

Activity Descriptions:

1. Episode discussions: Well, you all know what these are.
2. General Talk: If there is currently no topic for FMA, then this is okay for a little while. Talk about whatever, but heed the rules.
3. RP's: These stand for Role Play's, and are basically stories that are written by someone. You make up your own character for the RP based on what the story is about, then you find ways to tie him/her into it as it courses along. RP's are fun, especially if there is a good one going!
4. FMA Hangman: Well, we don't have a stick figure, but you know how the game works!
5. FMA quizzes: Questions based on the show. More on this once we get going.

6. FMA video game discussions: You know, the usual. I'll just sit back and read since I've played none of the FMA games. . . .*cries*

*This is it as of now, but keep checking back for new stuff!*

FMA anime Character Bios:

I'll get to this eventually. Really I will. . . .

FMA RP character bios:

Well, we have an RP going again... I'll get to this soon as well. Hopefully. >_>

Well, there you have everyone! So come in, and hang out for a bit! Enjoy the FMA club, because now. . . .it's official! Have fun![/color]

Updates:

Welcome to our newest member, cepussinboots.

Well, there you have everyone! So come in, and hang out for a bit! Enjoy the FMA club, because now.... it's official! Have fun!

Woot, Cloud's in, now the RP gets interesting. Good to have you in the group again, man. It's been too long since I last RPed with you, and I daresay you were a better writer than me at the time. We'll have to see if that condition is withstanding. :P

As for my RP, I've been something along the lines of busy with a math and physics test coming up on the same day, but Friday I'll be heading out of town for an annual United Church conference meeting (I'm the UC secretary, I do the website and publicity, so I kinda have to be there). It's a bit of a drive, though, so I'm thinking I'll bring a notebook and write down some ideas, and by the time I get back I should have an amazingly sexy RP to pump out, excuse the obvious innuendo.

Anyways, I'll be back Saturday evening, so I'll try posting it then. Thank you for your continued patience in this matter (and by "patience" I'm referring to you, Angelic :P)

Thank ye kindly, Angelic. I suppose a character bio would be in order first...

Name: Thomas Ferrum Browne
Age: 17
Race: Homunculus, although this is better kept a secret
Gender: Male
Character Description: Tom is just under six feet tall, with brown hair that seems to stay messy, despite whatever happens to it. His eyes are a pure jet black, and seem to go on forever. His clothing is usually the same outfit, a white skin-tight shirt underneath a black button-down with long sleeves, and a pair of khaki pants. Normally, Tom wears a pair of black sandals that slip off easily, prefering to move on his own two feet rather than have them covered. One more bit of note, on the back of Tom's neck, hidden beneath his hair, is the tattoo which marks all Homunculi.
Character History: Originally the older of a set of twins, Thomas grew up studying alchemy with his younger sister, Caroline. Neither of them knew their parents, being put up for adoption shortly after being born. They were adopted by a wealthy family and were sent through their lives without a hitch. However, both Tom and Cara had grown bored and wanted to find something better than living like they had been. They wanted to do something for themselves for a change, and ran. Eventually, they stopped running in a town somewhere further north and they stayed mainly in the library. It was there that the two siblings found several tomes on alchemy, and they began to practice. It didn't take long for them to understand the math and logic, and even less time to apply it to daily life. The two had been known as problem-solvers around their hometown, being able to understand situations and create solutions for nearly everything. It had taken several years worth of research, but Tom and Cara had reached a level of knowledge almost worthy of creating a kind of artificial intelligence. This alchemy, known throughout the rest of the world as a Human Transmutation, was considered a major breakthrough and there was a debate as to whether or not it should be attempted. In the end, Tom had sent his sister out for the day while he performed the experiment in secret. When Cara had returned, she found no trace of her brother, except for the experiment he had tried to accomplish. She used the body that Tom had almost created as material, and attempted a second human transmutation, trying to resurrect her brother. When Cara awoke, she found herself in a hospital bed, both her legs missing above the knees. Her brother left a note behind, telling Cara to get well so that he could bring back a solution to their problem. Thomas Browne has been trying to figure out what went wrong, traveling as much as he could, since then.

Honestly, it wasn't that long when I thought it up... or as poorly thought out...

Hey, uh...I thought Homunculus couldn't use alchemy?

McCloud
November 24th, 2006, 10:08 PM
He can't. That doesn't mean he can't research or find books or information and things of the like...

Wow... what a poorly written sentence. ^^'

Me and Blair (Sakura) and Kevin's character are in the North.

Everybody else is in the South.

Ion's character is going out into the wilderness to get to the North.

That should about cover it.

Well, before I answer your question, I'd like to say, my brother went back to college, so I have time to work on an rp, but don't expect one up soon, because I have to go to my cousins birthday in a little bit.

Now, to answer your question. My character is at his house in North Central. AA's character is at his house(I think). Then pretty much everybody else is at the State Alchemist HQ.

Nevermind, AA answered it all. 'Cept my character. :P

I'm thinking of Christmas money; are the FMA video games any good? Just curious to see if anyone here knows.

Yeah, as stated before, Lan is roaming around, trying to get to the other side of town. Whether I'll just wait for a bit in the RP and reappear with "He was finally there" or whether I'll RP in the wilderness remains to be decided.

The FMA games...well, I've played the first one. It was crap. I'm not gonna lie. I heard the second one was better though.

First one's crap. I'm stuck on the one where you have to pursue the thief and jump across a large space between 2 buildings. 2nd one rules! I kicked its butt like months ago. I played all the way though. Tough as hell.

Hey, I got a question for you FMA gurus. My bro and I were arguing about who counts as a State Alchemist. He thinks Hughes and Hawkeye count as State Alchemists and I think they count as Officers of the State. He didn't really have anything to back his claims up, but I said that they weren't considered State Alchemists because...
1. They weren't issued a name by the Furor
2. They don't ever use alchemy
3. They don't carry around the State Alchemist watch like that others do

So, who do you think is in the right? If you think I'm wrong please tell me why, because I can't think of a single reason why Hughes, Havoc, and Hawkeye should be considered State Alchemists and not Officers of the State.

AngelicAura
November 28th, 2006, 09:12 PM
I think Hughes IS a state alchemist, but Havoc and Hawkeye wouldn't be. Although, now that I think about it, doesn't Hawkeye prefer to use her guns, but can use alchemy? I'm not sure, now.

Well, that was a pointless post. I'm sorry...-_-

Knux
November 28th, 2006, 09:17 PM
I'm pretty sure that Hughes and Hawkeye are state officers. They never once use alchemy in the anime; I'm pretty sure they would've at least used SOME form of it if they could.

And also, Mustang said something to Ed along the lines of "there are very few that could do what you and I can" or something like that.

AngelicAura
November 28th, 2006, 09:35 PM
Just because they don't use alchemy doesn't mean they CAN'T use it.

In a plot layout, you don't need to have every character display or brandish their abilities. So, just because they don't use them doesn't mean they don't have them. Many times, the writer tries to imply messages to their audience.

Cecil DK Knight
November 28th, 2006, 10:23 PM
So where does the author imply that Hawkeye, Hughes, and Havoc are State Alchemists? Aside from them being uniformed, not only that, but the other characters don't treat them as State Alchemists. Hughes is more of an information/security officer and Hawkeye is more a bodyguard/secretary to Mustang. Secretary in the sense that she makes sure he doesn't screw up royally.

AngelicAura
November 29th, 2006, 03:33 PM
It's indirectly implied. He doesn't really imply it anywhere, but he doesn't come out and say they're not.

I'm just saying, you can't really have an answer to that question, because it's not clearly implied.

And, and please note that I said the writer TRIES to imply messages to their audience. Doesn't mean they always succeed!

Cecil DK Knight
November 29th, 2006, 03:42 PM
So in other words, it's the way the person watching it interprets it. IMO I don't think the author intended to make the others State Alchemists, simply because no one treats them as such. You can review my other posts for the other points, no need relisting them again. ;)

AngelicAura
November 29th, 2006, 04:19 PM
You're absolutely right. It all depends on each individual's views.

Oh, and there's that saying that goes like...I respect your opinion and fight to the death your right to express it, but do not agree. I didn't want to actually quote it because I'm sure I'd mess it up.

Anyway, since we've come to an agreement, no more arguing!

I'll see if I can do an RP today. CG was supposed to have his RP up today -_-. Oh, and Cecil, did you join the club? I don't remember. I mean, you're perfectly welcome here.

Also, I'd love to have you participate in the RP. If you feel like it, that is.

I've been holding my RP off to see McCloud's first. Then again, he could be doing the same, vice versa. :P

My reasoning for this is that I left an obvious opening in my RP. Originally it was intended for someone else, but they ended up deciding not to join, so I figured McCloud might use it instead.

In the case that he decides to stop procrastonating (an accusation that makes me a hypocrite :P) and sees this message, if you aren't planning on writing your RP right away, then let me know at least whether or not you think you'll use the opening. If not, I'll introduce an NPC.

Zazu
November 30th, 2006, 04:23 PM
Hey CG, I'll take the opening. I needed to find a way to get my character in as a State Alchemist, so that helps me.:D

I didn't know about it, otherwise I would've taken it earlier.:P

Well then, since this entire chain of potential posts is haging on my intro...

~*~*~

It had just been one of those long days. The kind that seem to drag on much longer than reality would normally permit. Looking out the window from his seat on a train, Thomas Browne let out a soft sigh. He had spent a good part of the day late. Getting up an hour later, almost missing his ride to the station, then missing the actual train. He had to run after it a good distance before he caught up to it at one of the stops along the way. He had always been a good runner, but this was rediculous.

"If I could just wake up on time," he said quietly to no one in particular. "Then maybe I wouldn't spend a part of my life out of breath."

The reason he was in such a rush to catch the early train was because he was looking for something. He was told to go to Central where he could find the libraries he had heard so much about. Hopefully he would be able to find a decent book for a change, the library back home was falling apart and was vastly outdated.

The sun was beginning to disappear behind Tom as his train continued onward. It was already dark when it finally stopped in the Central station. Tom went to grab his luggage, but shortly realized that he had left it behind when he ran after the train.

"For the love of all things still pure in this world," Tom said angrily. He didn't have a religion or a God to go with it, so he used that phrase often.

He sighed, letting out most of his anger, and started walking. He had no idea where to go, but was told that there was someone in the military who knew he was coming. His sister had made sure of that, mainly due to the fact that Tom was very good at getting lost.

"Just find the South Headquarters," Tome repeated what his sister had instructed. "I just hope I got on the right train..."

~*~*~

Yeah... pretty sad, as far as intros go. But at least I'm in. Now to just find CG...

My apologies for the extended delays, I had a criminal number of projects due over the course of one week. However, I won't bore you with excuses, but instead I'll imply forgiveness with an RP, as promised.

-----

Kei stepped through the doorway into the conference room, with Mondy closing the door behind him, a partially eaten blueberry muffin hanging precariously from his mouth. Sitting at the table in the centre of the room was a man of average height, in his late teens, sporting a denim jacket with thunder and snow decorating the front. Kei spoke silently aside to Mondy.

"I bet his alchemic abilities have something to do with snow."

Mondy gave a sarcastically forced look of amazement and chuckled.

"No, really? I never would've guessed, what with the snow jacket and all, the observation must've been pretty sublime."

Kei thumped him on the back as he sat down at the table, making Mondy choke momentarily on his muffin, reflexively freeing the pastry from his air passages. A quick sideways glare at Kei, and his head was turned back to the recruit, making the pair look like the most professional alchemists one could ever witness, minus the presence of the muffin.

Kei sipped quietly from a cup of coffee that had been placed pre-emptively for him at the table, perfecting the suspence of the moment. It was a means of putting the recruit on edge that he had perfected through years of experience.

"Well then. Your name?"

The recruit gulped quickly and nodded.

"That would be, umm...Faolan Geim. Pleasure to meet you, sir."

Kei snigggered*, but it sounded more like a childish giggle. Faolan looked awkwardly at him, and Mondy inquired.

"What's your problem?"

Kei grinned sheepishly.

"He called me 'sir.' Isn't that cool?"

Mondy shook his head. He had hoped that the act would have gone on for a little longer. It had been subconsciously agreed between the two since the moment they sat down that they were going to try to make the recruit think that they acted like professionals. It wasn't agreed that one of them was going to burst into giggles after the first reply.

"No, Kei, it's not cool. It's ironic. Oxymoronic, even. You know why?"

Kei smirked.

"Because I'm about as much of a sir as you are? At least I'm wearing something stylish, you're just wearing casual clothes.[/I]

Mondy shook his head more fiercely.

"That doesn't make you a sir, it just means you're self-centered, or conceded! Besides, I have a muffin."

Kei motioned to the cup in front of him.

"But I have coffee, real men drink coffee. And it's black. That makes you a racist, somehow."

Mondy smirked.

"But I have a muffin."

"Ooh...a muffin..."

"Yeah."

"...damn."

Faolan cleared his throat, and suddenly the two remembered that he was there. Faolan pointed to Kei's cup.

"Take a sip, I think you'll be surprised."

Kei obliged without thinking. He was about to take a sip, anyway. However, it wasn't his warm coffee that greeted his lips. It wasn't warm, nor was it coffee. It was caffinated snow. Kei poured some of the discoloured flakes onto the table in front of him, and stared at them with remarkable interest. He turned back to the cup, took a sip--or a bite, if you will--and munched the frozen beverage around for a bit.

"It's just like an iced cappuchino. Awesome. Say, can you make these in the summer, when it's really hot out?"

Faolan nodded. He had just begun to open his mouth when Kei whipped out a piece of paper and stamped it.

"Congratulations, you're an ensign. We'll periodically give you missions and whatnot, you'll have to carry them out, and then report to me as to the results of the mission. Since nothing's really happening right now, you're first mission, until further notice, will be to make an iced cappuchino like this one, except using an actual cappuchino to make it, not just coffee."

Mondy elbowed Kei in the side.

"What he means is that you have the option of making an iced cappuchino if you want to. Until then, he's going to go to his office and diligently write out a bunch of papers that officially state that you're now an ensign of South Central HQ. In the meantime, I'm going to show you to your new office, and get you an officer's jacket. You can wear whatever you want around here, but on missions you'll need to don the jacket. By the time you've seen your office and got your jacket, Kei will have found one of the ten or so missions he's been assigned since last month that he's probably jammed in a loose drawer somewhere in his desk, and he'll assign it over to you. Sound good?"

Again, Faolan nodded. He stood up, and then paused for a moment.

"So are you seriously hiring me as an ensign just because I can make iced cappuchinos?"

Kei smirked.

"Actually, about that, I have to write down that you did something alchemically that could be of benefit to the HQ. Personally, I think iced cappuchino is the best thing to happen to us since they replaced the coffee dispenser, but the higher-ups insist that the ability has to be capable of 'conserving peace and prosperity' or something fancy-sounding like that...so, if you could do something cool looking, that'd help."

Faolan nodded and looked around briefly.

"Is there anything fairly solid in here that you don't need?"

Mondy shook his head, and then pointed outside.

"There's nothing in here, but there's a garbage bin just outside the window here that nobody ever uses, since it's outside the building. They put it there a few weeks ago, but it's too damn cold for anyone to go outside to throw things out. Can you take care of something from behind a window?"

Faolan nodded. He put his hands to the floor, activating the transmutation circles on his gloves. He sent the transmutation energy across the window and into the snow outside. The snow under the garbage bin began to rapidly melt and refreeze, the expansion caused by the freezing crystalization lifting the bin into the air. When it was a few feet off the ground, a sphere of snow quickly envoloped it, and then compressed against the sides of the metallic bin. The ball decreased in size until it was smaller than a marble, then was rapidly heated and recooled to create a transparent icy shell. The shell then made it's way back to the window, where Kei opened the window and grabbed it.

"You crushed the garbage can without altering it's shape...it's a garbage can marble. Can you make marble collections like this?"

Faolan smirked.

"I can crush your enemies into spheres so that you can make a collection of them, and occassional play marbles with them. It would be a good intimidation technique, get your enemy to play marbles with you while using the compressed corpses of former enemies."

Mondy nodded.

"Yeah, I daresay that would intimidate most people. It's scaring the hell out of me, so let's put the marble idea away for awhile. We'll say that ability can, uh...preserve prosperity, for lack of a less pun-inducing word. Alright, Kei, we'll be around to your office in a bit."

Kei nodded and took another munch of his iced coffee.

"Yeah, I'll see you in a bit. Oh, and welcome to the force, Faolan. You'll find me and Mondy here are pretty liberal, but I'd advise a little more caution around other people. There are a few staff members here that have never woken up on the right side of the bed in their life. My theory is that they sleep on a ball, but that's irrelevant. You'll find out who's laid back and who isn't pretty quickly. Until then, best of luck."

Faolan nodded his thanks and left the conference room with Mondy. Kei gathered his papers, swallowed the last of the now melting coffee, and headed to his office. With his thoughts now back to himself, he was busy analyzing Faolan's abilities in his mind.

"Brilliant...snow has near infinite malleability. He could rearrange the position of crystalized particles to compress solid atomic bonds without altering their relative position. This guy could prove to be one of the better recruits we've had in a long time..."

As Kei continued his contemplations, he passed by the coffee dispenser again, and poured himself a new cup.

"The iced caps and marbles are no loss, either."

Alrights, there you have it. This was obviously one of my less serious RPs, I like to vary the mood of my RPs every once in awhile. Kevin, I hope my description of your character's abilities was good enough for an intro.

* I had to misspell this word, take away one extra "g" and you have the correct spelling. GW censors it as a racial slang. Hats off to faulty word filters.

Kei s******ed,

What's with the censor? What was that word supposed to be? Never mind.

This was the best RP ever.

I'm going to RP as soon as Kevin does just so I'm not dictating what Kevin does with Faolan.

That was a pretty funny rp, CG.

Guys, I've just got too much going on RP wise at the moment. I'll watch this one for now. IF there's some point in time that I can join in and it doesn't interfere with the story, and if I don't have alot going on, then I'll join in.

But I will change the first page. Just tell me who's joined that isn't on the members list. Oh, and AA, do you want to be a leader? I don't think PP is coming back anytime soon.

December 8th, 2006, 07:24 PM
Agreed, AA, that part was awesome. Nice, CG!

AngelicAura
December 8th, 2006, 11:07 PM
I'd be happy to be leader, WR. Okay, and new members list is:

Ion

Cecil DK Knight
Crystal Magician

I will get an RP up probably next week. I just gotta come up with something. and find time to post.

Confused God
December 9th, 2006, 12:42 PM
Actually, while the subject of the first page is up, is there a way we could have myself or AA get editing control over it? I've had it done before, I think you just need to have a mod split it in someone else's name, but at any rate, that would make it easier for us to keep the page updated, and we wouldn't have to bother you to make changes for us anymore. ^^

I was thinking it might be a good idea to try revamping the appearance of the page a little, too. Something to solidify this revival of the clan.

White Rose
December 9th, 2006, 02:54 PM
Well, tell me what I can do to give the first page a face lift, and I'll get on it. If you all want, we can get on line sometime to discuss how we want it to look.

In the meantime... *updates members and leader list*

Confused God
December 30th, 2006, 12:39 PM
Well, that was much too great a time lapse between posts. I suppose it's understandable, what with the holidays and all, but we should at least keep enough of a feed of activity in here to hold the clan up until people can start RPing again. On that note, where are we in terms of the RP?

Ion
December 30th, 2006, 01:13 PM
You were the last one to RP, so I'd think wou would know.

Yeah, I think I waited long enough, I'll have Lan make a re-appearance soon.

Alright guys... I finally edited the first post. Looks tons better than it did before. Also, I updated the leaders and members list.

One more thing... I have a banner made for the C&C yearbook. Complete with our club name.

I'd come up with a motto, but I think we have one. "Bigger, better, more equivalent" sounds good to me.

We'll be in the yearbook in just a little bit. :)

In terms of the RP, my character is sending Kevin's character (Faolan) on his first mission soon while Dr.House's character (Mondy) is giving him the introductory information on being an ensign of the HQ (this being the southern HQ). McClould's character (Thomas) is at the Central train station trying to find his way to South Central HQ. In the meantime, everyone else is in the North, except for Ion's character (Lan), who's trying to sneak around the border from the South to get to the North.

Hope that helps jog things a little RP-wise.

Then I'll direct you now to my previous post, to be found just above yours. That summary, though short, essentially encompasses the RP so far (as not too much has occured quite yet).

I'll retry on my RP. Kinda sucked, but I got some new ideas.

All right, I just had a spark. lol.
_______________

Moreaux walked around, trying not to be seen. He hid in the shadows quietly if voices or footsteps came. "Dang. Wonder what's with all the soldiers? I wonder if they're after me because of my spark ability or me not having a license, both?" Moreaux wondered to himself. He heard footsteps approaching the alleyway. Moreaux stooped down low and accidentally banged into a trashcan. "D'oh!" Moreaux whispered to himself quietly in pain, holding his knee to his chest. The steps quickened, faster and faster, until an image of a soldier appeared in the alleyway, walking into the alley because of the noise. Moreaux sweated in fear. The step were coming closer and closer, until the soldier was about 3 feet away from the trashcan. Moreaux started panicking in his head, trying to think with his mind racing at 300 mph. He started rubbing his hands together and panicked. He went running past the soldier at top speed, with the soldier hot on his tail. "Hey, you! Stop!" the soldier yelled after him. Moreaux could not and would not stop. He just kept on running.

Daniel hadn't heard from Blair in nearly a week. Rumor had it that the Fuhrer was putting her through some testing and conditioning to see if she had what it took to survive as an alchemist. So far, nobody had reported her dead, so all seemed well.

Daniel was sitting as his desk, working on some reports from tasks he'd completed within the last week. It was actually just a couple of useless things that got him nowhere in his career, but he tried to make them seem much more interesting than they were. His philosophy was to always make things seem better than they are, after all.

The hands on the clocks face had made two complete circuits before Daniel had finished his manipulating of his paperwork. Now that he was done, he was free to go to the training grounds and blow up some targets.

The training grounds had been set up to allow each alchemist to keep up on their techniques and abilities. Each department had their own training grounds, each designed to be able to change depending on the alchemist. So, the Air Alchemists would have one set training ground with many different setups. The Earth Alchemists had their own, and so on and so forth. Each alchemist was required to be tested weekly on their abilities. Daniel had been attending nearly every other day since they had set it up.

Daniel ascended from his chair and exited his office, locking it. The bright light of the atrium was flowing in from a nearby hallway, and blinded him. He turned his back to the light, and walked towards a high-security door. This door secured everything inside of the training grounds from being broken into. There were many different types of weapons and chemicals stored inside, and if they were stolen, who knows what could happen. There was a voice matching device that allowed entrance, set up by the SAD (Sound Alchemy Department). The door recognized Daniel's voice, like it had every other time, and the door clicked multiple times before finally opening to reveal the training grounds. It was set up in a strange way today, though. He'd never seen it this way. A man approached Daniel from a nearby office. He was the technical manager.

"Daniel, there you are. Your office was locked-" the man said.

"My way of making sure I finish my work without getting distracted!" Daniel laughed.

"Of course. Well, anyway, the Fuhrer has a challenge for you today. He's had his eye on this man for awhile, and we finally nagged him to join the military, but we can't seem to find the correct department for him. He figured that if he could outmatch you in Air Pressure abilities, he'd put him in the AAD.”

“I don’t want to see another alchemist just walk into the AAD. I realize we’re not the largest branch of alchemy, but that doesn’t mean we need more people. Aaron, Cairen, and I have it covered. The assistants are nice too. We also have the best technical staff of any department!”

“Thank you.”

“It’s the truth. Anyway, when’s the guy getting here?”

“He’s waiting up there.”

“So this is our arena…”

“We had to find something you’d never used before. Fuhrer’s orders. He told us to give this to you, also.”

The technical manager handed gave Daniel an envelope, closed and marked with the Fuhrer’s seal. Daniel had gotten a handful of these from the Fuhrer, mostly of personal business. He tore the letter open, and the technical manager left, climbing onto the platform.

“Dear Pascal, please excuse the suddenness of this challenge. I just cannot find a place for this alchemist. I would’ve just thrown him in, but since his abilities are so different and unclassifiable, I must justify my reasoning. I personally have not seen everything he can do, so I can’t tell you what to expect. I really would like to, for he will certainly be a challenge. He is very capable of crushing anybody that stands in his way, so be careful. His alchemic name is ‘The Physics Alchemist’ from what he’s told me. We’re still looking at his profile, but so far he’s clean of any crime records. Well, good luck, Pascal. Sincerely, the Fuhrer.”

Daniel folded up the letter and put it into his coat pocket. He was lucky he actually wore his uniform today. Tearing off the overcoat, he revealed his alchemic apparel. He wore a black long-sleeved shirt covered with a multitude of different transmutation circles. One of the benefits of being an Air Alchemist was that your reactant was always the same thing: Air. And since air is existent everywhere on Earth, and has no definite size or shape, an alchemist can use a smaller transmutation circle. Thus, you can put many different circles onto an object and be able to use different reactions without having to draw a new circle.

Daniel also wore ultra-thin pants. The allowed his aerodynamic battle style. At his hips were his sheaths, containing two daggers. They hardly saw battle unless he was engaged in hand-to-hand combat.

Wanting to make a flashy appearance to intimidate his competition, he eliminated the air pressure above him, allowing him to simply float in midair. He slowly increased the pressure beneath him, pushing him higher into the air, until he was level with the platform. He balanced out the air pressure above and below him, and increased the amount coming from below him. He propelled onto the platform and flipped to stick a landing.

“Showy, but impressive,” a voice said from across the platform. Daniel turned to see his competition walking towards him.

“Nice to meet you. I’m Alex Baron. The Fuhrer said you and I were to duke it out as my entrance test. To be honest, I was expecting something a little more intimidating,” he spoke.

“I’m Daniel. But you’ll call me Pascal from here on out, got it? I’m the head alchemist here at the AAD. I hear you’re called ‘The Physics Alchemist’?”

“Let’s stop wasting time and get to it.”

“Fine then. Gunther, we’re ready!”

A machine turned on, and some guard rails rose around the platform, and netting stretched out from the sides. They were apparently expecting a very vicious battle. The machine slowed down, and silenced.

“Fight!” Gunther, the operator, shouted.

The two leaped into action, Alex running towards Daniel, and Daniel launching himself into the air. Turning over in air, he skydived through the air. Using slipstreams, he flung gusts of air at Alex, who somehow managed to dodge all of them. Alex returned the blasts with his own, throwing Daniel off-balance and crashing into the metal platform. Daniel slipped out a dagger, and slip streamed it blindly across the stadium. It missed, but threw Alex off. Daniel jumped to his feet and made a protective wall of pressure between the two of them. Alex, unaware of the new barrier, charged Daniel down. Daniel created explosions of pressure all around Alex, tearing him in different directions.

“Playing dirty, huh? I can do that too!” Alex shouted.

All of a sudden, Daniel was lifted off the ground and flying towards the ceiling. He smashed into that, and was again finding himself falling to the metal platform below. His left leg was now beaten up and bloody. He pulled himself up. A switch of gravity was something he should’ve expected from a person who can control physics.

A machine suddenly started up, and out of the platform came pillars and walls. The platform had now turned into a maze.

“Great. Gunther, what is this designed to do?” Daniel questioned.

There was no response. Daniel shrugged it off as he was now encased in a metal labyrinth. He attempted to levitate above the maze, but it appeared that there was a bubble of Standard Temperature and Pressure above him. He wasn’t going to be able to get above it.

“Why does the AAD have to think of everything when it comes to designing these things?” Daniel mumbled.

He slowly walked through the mess of metal, with a dagger unsheathed and ready to strike. He turned corners sharply and quickly, trying to catch Alex off guard. They couldn’t seem to find each other.

“This is hopeless. I need to think of a better plan…”

Daniel screeched at the feeling of a blow to the collarbone. He collapsed to the ground, then rolled over to find nothing behind him.

“What…?”

Moreaux kept on running, he saw a large gap ahead. "Crap!" he said while running with the soldier gaining quickly. "Feet, don't fail me now!" he muttered while attempting to accelerate speed. The gap 50 feet ahead was at least 10 feet wide. Moreaux busted out major adrenaline to his reserves. He ran faster. "Stop!" the command came again. Moreaux replied, "Uh-uh, buddy." Moreaux ran all the way to the gap. He zapped the soldier to slow him down with temporary reversed polarity (magnetization). This bought Moreaux some time to think. The gap was coming up fast. He accelerated and jumped! Moreaux was flying through the air and made it, just barely. The soldier, now free, shook his fist in the air after Moreaux. Moreaux turned around, and gave a sly grin. " Nah-nah. Better luck next time! Hehe..." and disappeared into the crowds

Faolan followed Mondy into a small, dark office. He flipped a switch and the lights overhead glared on. The room had a stained desk and empty walls and dusty shelves for personalization, not that Faolan needed that part.

"Now to get some work done. You can pick up your jacket once you get yourself measured in the tailor across the street. Just show them your State Alchemist's watch and they'll know what to do," Mondy said. "Then you can go get your first mission from Kei, just make sure you have your jacket before you start the mission. It usually takes them a day to get it finished," Mondy left the small office and walked down the hall.

Faolan scanned the room quickly to get a look of his surroundings before turning of the light and leaving himself. He left the building and crossed the snow-dusted street entering the building which had a sign that simply read, "Tailor." He entered the store and approached the front desk casually. He rang the worn, silver bell and an old-looking man came to the front.

He had a gray mustache and beard, with a full head of gray hair. "Hello, how may I help you?" he asked with a smile.

"I need a jacket," Faolan replied pulling out his watch and showing it to the kind old man.

"Ah, a new State Alchemist, eh? Come to the back and we'll get you measured," the man pulled up the slab of wood that separated the lobby of the store and the back of th store.

Faolan walked through the opening and peered at the many types of clothing on racks just behind the counter. He followed the man into a room with many devices for measuring different parts of the body. There were a few other people, two women and one man, all of the looking to be around 20 or 30, in the room, all of them sewing some piece of clothing.

The old man grabbed a simple, white tape measure. He measured Faolan's waist and sides, and then, gesturing Faolan to raise his arms, measured each arm, from shoulder to the tip of the middle finger.

"All done," the man said.

"So, when do I pay you?"

The man laughed, "You don't have to pay a thing. The headquarters provides costs of the basic supplies for new State Alchemists. If you ever need a new one though, that's when you'll have to pay. By the way, my name's Rudolph. If you ever need anything, just swing by."

Faolan nodded and thanked Rudolph for his kindness, then headed out. He walked back across the street and into the HQ, then went into Kei's office to receive his first mission as a State Alchemist.

Well, that RP is gonna be hard to revive. We didn't do much of it, and the person who came up with it (if I'm not mistaken) has left GW for good... so it'd be best to start a new one.

Anyway, so far the count is two (counting myself). Keep updating if you're interested. I'll probably assume around 5 or 6 is good enough to start up. More might come later.

potentially yes, but the concept of a FMA rp does somewhat complicate some things.
say if one of the characters tried to attempt a human transmutation, we'd have to then make a corresponding humunculi... other then that, i would have no problem :D

AngelicAura
January 22nd, 2008, 05:27 PM
Oh trust me. This club is pretty good at enforcing rules to constrain any potential bursts of omnipotence. I'm sure all RP's enforce a god-mod rule, though we tend to be more strict about it because of the abilities allowed.

We've successfully finished one RP, though it was left unsaved and burned in the purge awhile ago. We've been attempting to get one rolling, though it seems there's a strong friction force against the motion (physics metaphor for any people who care). I and Summer will pay close attention to RPs and make sure anything we consider too powerful will be dulled down. No godding yourself. =)

I'd like to get at least one or two more people before I post an intro for the RP. Then we'll make the ultimate decision what to do from there.

Alright guys, AA asked me to post this up for him so it wouldn't be a double post.

So here's the prologue to the proposed RP. All credit to AngelicAura. :)

----------------------------

Alchemy. It was created long ago in China only shortly after the supposed Christ was dead. The beginning of this invention began a never-ending chain of science versus religion. It pitted the experimentations and theories of science against the irrational traditions and mysteries of religion. Due to the nature of the ideologies, religion always created a concept first. It was unnecessary for religion to prove anything. Religion just required a strong belief in an idea and it was considered true. Science on the other hand preferred physical proof that something was true. If it was irrational, it was wrong. So it took much longer for an idea to be presented in science. Religion and science, although completely opposite in practice, always came up with the same concepts. Science always was last, due to the years of experimentation required, and so religion got first dibs on followers.

Long after the beginning of the rigorous cycle, religion realized science was a threat to their beliefs. They began persecuting those who followed sciences that disproved the ideologies presented in religion. If you believed something different than what religion stated was true, you were killed. This method worked for a very long time until scientists, as they soon became called, worked together in secrecy. They disproved religious beliefs slowly, and caught up after years of persecution with the ideas of religion. Technology overcame religion, and religion began its decline. Religious persecutions occurred instead of scientific executions. If you believed in God, you could be killed. If you believed in Allah, you could be killed. If you didn’t believe in a God, you could even be killed. Science had turned the tables, going from what was once considered evil, dark magic to a revolutionary way to improve the lifestyles of each person.

Science was still magic though. It never ceased being magic. New sciences were being founded every day. Sciences of the earth, sciences of the mind, sciences of the body, and even sciences of space became common. Religion continued slipping away into darkness. Sciences just held a stronger hold on the people, amazing people day-by-day with their cures and remedies to every day problems. Science could extend a person’s life significantly by putting them on machines after a life-threatening situation occurred. It was helping disprove religion’s concept of God. With the coming of the “Baby Boomers” Generation, religion became nearly non-existent, with only those who had been brainwashed into believing in a god were religious. They either were brainwashed, or idealistic. Both became sins to a common man, but were not punished by death. Then came the separation of government and religion. Nobody wanted anything to do with religion any longer, and it went extinct.

People began looking into the history of science, and seeing what wrongs religion had done to what was making all of their lives more and more marvelous each day. They soon began remembering religion as an evil thing. The people then researched even further back, until they came across it: The belief that sparked the chain of science versus religion. The science that had become impossible to pursue due to insufficient technology and understanding of the universe around them, which was due to the dictatorship religion held on a persons comprehension of the place in which they lived. Alchemy allowed a person to become the religion’s God. They could create things and destroy things. They could kill, or they could perhaps even resurrect. They realized why religion was so threatened by science. It disproved everything they ever stood for and told was true. They had stated that no human could be God, and they were wrong. They had once stated that science was an evil magic. They were wrong. Alchemy was a magic, yes, but it was justified. Everything about it followed the laws that had been already discovered about life. The main law that dictated alchemy was The Law of the Conservation of Matter. The belief that matter cannot be created or destroyed in a chemical reaction, but can be conserved. This meant it could be changed into a different form of matter. This is what alchemy was. It was turning matter of one thing into the same exact amount of matter of a different thing, or sometimes different things. It was renamed The Law of Equivalent Exchange. Nothing can be made without giving up something of equal cost. It soon caught on to people in general not only as a law of science, but as a law of life. People took it as a philosophy on how to live. It was plausible, and already exited, but alchemy made it common knowledge.

Along with the belief, alchemy soon became common knowledge. Every person simply had to learn to perform alchemy. It became the new fad of the world. Just like every fad, it grew and grew, infecting people everywhere. It became a profession, and it also became a game. It also became a way to murder cleanly. Soon, the government had to put regulations on it. They had to control it in some ways. The nature of alchemy was a dangerous one, and they knew it. They limited alchemy except for certified people. You had to register for a license and pay an annual fee to use alchemy. It became a privilege rather than a right. Also, the government recruited the exceptional alchemists into their ranks. They became known as State Alchemists, and did the government’s dirty work. They fought in wars. They became known as “Dogs of the Military”. It was the way of disgracing the work of an alchemist. Alchemy had lost its glory and fame. Along with the limitation of alchemy, science became limited. Alchemy had been fueling all the research science had been doing. And without alchemy, science had nowhere left to go. Government had conquered science and ignored religion. They had performed a hostile take-over, controlling every aspect of a person’s beliefs.

Rebels emerged, fighting against government with alchemy. State Alchemists always managed to eliminate these threats with ease. Religion, too afraid to even make an attempt to revitalize itself, was still only a distant memory in the minds of people worldwide. Although alchemy was banned, science still held onto what it already had. It held tightly onto its marvels in the earth, mind, and body. It continued living in harmony with the government, afraid and unable to do anything new. They continued upholding a person’s life on machines, carefully researching chemical reactions while being sure that they weren’t performing alchemy. The government would call upon science when it needed new weapons of war, threatening to ban science just like it had banned alchemy if they refused. Science was in a head-lock, and had not the courage to attempt to break free. With the extension of life-spans of a human, overpopulation soon occurred. Shortages in food emerged, and the divisions in the economy that had once been solved by alchemy re-emerged. Third-world countries suffered with poverty, while countries like America and Japan thrived. People held protests to try and bring back the third-world countries, but the government simply threw out their teams of alchemists to break up the riots. Government had their trump card, and was using it effectively. The world was under the control of alchemists and government working hand-in-hand and government wasn’t about to give up their power. The world seemed doomed in the eyes of the public.

The rebel forces grew stronger and stronger each day though. Eventually, the government had no choice but to take matters much more seriously. Conspiracy against the government by State Alchemists became assumed if you took a wrong step.

And yet, the rebels reveled in the paranoia they caused. The Alchemic Departments held well individually, but as a war league they were growing weaker.

There simply were not enough alchemists. HQ took in recruits to training, hastily training them in one element and appropriating them into the correct departments. Civil war was declared by the Fuhrer and the rebels continue to grow in power…

------------------------

And that's that. Pretty cool. :) AA's gonna go ahead and post right after this, so tell him what you all think.

Alright! Thanks for that WR =)

Well, if you want to do the RP, fill out this set-up in a post:

GW name:
Character name:
Affiliation (Rebel, State, etc.):
Alchemic title:
Alchemic element (Fire, Water, Earth, Electricity, etc.):
Alchemic abilities:
Character description:
Short character bio:

No deadline to get these up.

The sides are rebels, state, free-lance basically. You can have another affliation if you can think of one. Rebels are fighting for free alchemy originally. State is fighting for civil dominance and peace. Free-lance has their own ideals, though since they're not affiliated with the State, they must be in hiding when doing alchemy (since it's illegal. Unless they randomly fight with rebels, though then you're free-lance with some rebel affiliation). Every alchemist must have a set alchemic element. This includes Ice, Electricity, Light, Sound, Physics and some other exceptions. (even though those listed are not technically elements).

I will ask for modifications of characters if necessary. I'll try to be as leniant as possible, but I have a set idea of where I want this to go. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or IM me (xsignh3r3 on AIM). I'll answer any questions you have.

Make sure to give your character alchemic abilities AND disabilities. You can have weapons, but don't go overboard with them. List them in the description section.

For now, I'm allowing no more than two characters per person. I'll be getting a character up soon, and another one later.

If you need advice on alchemic abilities, I'm loaded with them. I won't bite if you want to ask. Other than that, please enjoy the RP and I wish you all luck with this.

I suggest alchemist characters. There's not much to do if you aren't an alchemist. Though there can be some military soldiers that are what I call "Un-Alchemists" and specialize in naturally mimicking the works of alchemy. It's hard to explain, but it makes sense in my head. Haha...

And Rebels are against anybody opposed to the free practice of alchemy by citizens.

GW name: Starfyre
Character name: Faolan Geim
Affiliation: State
Alchemic title: Light-Strike Alchemist
Alchemic element: Electricity
Alchemic abilities: Using his own body’s electrical current, or any other current, Faolan can transfer it to his hand or discharge it anywhere within about a six foot radius, striking something with an arc of electricity. Most of the time he only uses his abilities to stun the enemy for easier apprehension. If there is enough water on his body or around him, his powers will become devastating to him and anyone standing on the water—this however depends on many factors, such as salinity of the water or the amount of ions in the water.

Character description: Faolan stands at about 5’10” with a somewhat athletic body type. He has medium-length light-brown hair and hazel eyes. He is a gentle and handsome man, receiving much attention from the women. He likes to wear his State Alchemist uniform a lot, even when off duty. When he isn’t wearing his uniform, he wears average everyday clothing.

Short character bio: Faolan grew up practically in the military—his father was a state officer. Faolan dreamed of becoming an officer for the State just like his father, putting down the criminals for their wrong-doings. His father being both Faolan’s role model and a womanizer, Faolan took on many characteristics of his father—primarily his womanizing feature. As he grew older, Faolan took an interest in alchemy. At the age of 18, he joined the military, becoming the Light-Strike Alchemist.
