People should be banned for being idiots. What may I ask is the point of deleting threads if they don't do any harm while they are closed? It doesnt matter either way.

If someone gets banned/warned, and the offending thread(s) have been deleted, then they can appeal against the ban/warning, and the admins will have no evidence to support the banning/warning. So the thread is closed, so only mods can post in it, and the admins will still have evidence, should the member appeal against the ban/warning. Also if the thread was a banned topic or was turning into spam or arguments, then it will probably be closed. Why did you ask this in the court? The place for it is in General Forum Questions and help.

Yeah, the staff wont have any evidence, except all the warnings and evidence they wrote in their user notes

Or the simple reason that there might be some helpfull information in the closed thread, that people might want to see in the future.

bekause we are fukkin' lazy like that. if we wanted to delete it it would either go to threads waiting to be moderated or the mod(s) would still see it.

YES THIS IS A CASE!!!!No, this is not a case. All it is is just you being a mindless idiot.

Seriously, how is this a case? where's the evidence? who are you blaming?

I also read your sig....you're pathetic. You probably know nothing about this site, & we all know what PM means. We don't need a n00b stating the obvious.

I'll give you several reasons why closed topics aren't deleted;
1.)used for reference.
2.)preventing people from bumping dead topics.
3.)evidence & what not.
4.) deleting closed topics is a very big process. GW would be down for awhile.

Just leave, junior, before the big guys get in here & rip ya a new one.

Now now, shizzle, no need for f*cking profanity. :P

IT'S CALLED READING THE POSTS ABOVE YOURS!!!It's called Me posting about 10-20 seconds after you posted...I write thorough, almost-perfectly spelled, near grammatically correct posts, while you write one word per post.

Regardless, this is still not a case...you never stated anything, or brought evidence...no, you do not have case.

and new members don't know what pm means. GOD USE YOUR BRAIN.

FAQ (http://forums.gamewinners.com/forums/faq.php?). Why don't you use your brain.

& don't take my father's name in vain.

and new members don't know what pm means
As far as I remember, way back in the days of vB2, I knew what PM meant... It's not like the FAQ doesn't tell you, numbnuts. :chuckle:

then do they close it!!??
Assuming you meant "then WHY do the close it?", the reason would be for reference. If a thread's conversation goes highly off topic - for example, a thread with a helpful tip on how to complete a really hard part of the game leads on to conversation about bacon. The thread would be closed to cut the pointless posting, but it would be left visible to members so they could look at the tip.

IT'S CALLED READING THE POSTS ABOVE YOURS!!!
What is? What's called "READING THE POSTS ABOVE YOURS!!!"?

As far as I've witnessed, you haven't been reading the previous posts. You've just been randomly yelling at people, asshat.

Everyone is forgetting one very important reason why threads aren't deleted when they are closed, and that is even if a thread is only soft deleted all of the posts within the thread will be deducted from the members' post count. This would result in drama. Besides, there is a lot of use in keeping some closed threads around. For example- I have made a habit of closing cases in here after I'm done with them. I don't move them to the recycle bin or delete them for a simple reason- so that people can read them and get an idea of what they should or shouldn't post. There is no reason for them to be deleted.

And computer dude this is not a case in the slightest. Saying 'this is a case against the whole site' is just utter crap. This should have gone Forum Questions. But it's been answered now anyway, so there is no reason to keep it open.
