Unfortunately, you have to possess a certain level of creativity to really RP well, and not everybody's got it. I can write well, but thinking up good, imaginitive ideas is not my forte.
Which clan's got the RP goin'?

I think you should all head over to the Jedi-Sith Conflict for some RPing action >_>. Lolz I think this place should be closed or something.

nah,
my clan the Covenant War Clan is rp-ing at the moment.

Nooo! I need this place! I've been diagnosed with a rare disease that's only treatable by talking with people who I'll never be able to meet in person! This place has to keep me going until I can get Xbox Live!
Heh, Covenant. Those guys are awesome. And jerks (Damn Jackal snipers).

I actually find the regular jackels more annoying, especially in Halo 2, seeming as they don't die on the first melee hit, unlike Halo 1, which I love only because Master Cheif is a god. Nothing besides large numbers threatens the chief.
RuudDude
September 6th, 2007, 12:18 PM
Yup. Normal jackals are prettty frustating simply because they cover their head if you miss with the first shot. Overall, though, Halo 1 is far easier than 2. I beat the Legendary campaign on 1 with few problems, whereas I might need a few days to do it on Halo 2. And I've been getting the skulls to boot, which makes it all supremely hard and frustrating. Invisible, SpecOps enemies that are extremely resilient and know where you are at all times makes for a challenge.
I have to say that the weapons are far better balanced in 2, though. In 1, you picked up a pistol when you found it, regardless of the situation. Now, you gotta think 'What the hell do I need?'
Saint!
September 6th, 2007, 05:09 PM
Nah, I find it more fun to have a magnum in halo 2 facing a batallion of brutes thinking, oh ****. Its more challenging. Cause eventually in Halo 2 you get so amazing with one gun it just gets old. For some reason or another Halo seems ot not do that. I have no idea why, perhaps its the increased speed or super power melee. Or how it actually runs on my 360 without showing weird grey backrounds randomly due to resolution problems? Idk either way Halo is totally better.

hardly, if you stay here we'll add you
RuudDude
September 11th, 2007, 12:47 PM
The brutes are idiots, though. A lot of times, I'd be sniping, put a round through their head, and they'd just stand there and take the second one.
Perhaps you enjoyed taking down the mighty Hunters with something so simple as a pistol shot to the back? Anyway, the grey backgrounds are a loading thing, not a resolution issue (I think).
Oh, and welcome TheSwordsman! I hope your one of the rare ones that sticks around for more than five posts. Our "member list" is full of them. I think we had 4/5 active members at last count.

Well then its loading ALOT, its like a weird film over a lens of the previous cinematic. And actually, I prefered smacking them to death.

I believe that would be correct.
Sorry, I forgot about GW again.

Well why does it do that? seriously, can I fix this?
S Murder
September 16th, 2007, 12:38 PM
I don't think so. You're kind of limited by whatever hardware and software came with your X Box 360. The best you can do is probably make sure you have all the firmware updates and whatnot.

Eh, Ill just keep playing halo I guess. Did you guys see the new teaser thing bungie made?
RuudDude
September 19th, 2007, 10:23 PM
Say what now? What kind of teaser? (Gameplay vid, interview, etc.)
I watched a supposed recording of part of the first level. Man, everyone is chatty! Both the Marines and the enemies (particularly Grunts). It seems like everytime Chief saw them, they talked. Also, w00t for 4-player Co-op, and skulls that you don't have to be on Legendary to get!
Saint!

4 player co-op?! oh my lord thats amazing I...cant even continue this post.

I would've replied sooner, but the news put me in a coma for 2 days.
RuudDude
September 21st, 2007, 04:15 PM
Yep, anywhere from two to four. The first two play as Chief and Arby, and any more people will (supposedly) play as Elites. Which is way cooler than being a Marine. I don't know the specifics on players-per-box, but I know that you can do it over LAN with two on each box. A good friend of mine plans to do this the day it comes out.
I'm intrigued by the new strategic opportunities offered by stuff like the Bubble shield, portable lift, shield drainer, shield charger, etc. They offer new ways to f*ck people up.

September 23rd, 2007, 01:09 PM
Oh so it all Good Cop Bad Cop with Arbiter and Cheif now?
RuudDude
September 25th, 2007, 12:41 PM
Yep. From what I've seen, it appears that Arby will be there as an AI-controlled character if there's no second player. You'd probably have to revert if he died. Then again, the footage I watched could've been on LAN and Arby human-controlled. But the Elites and humans are definitely working together.
Update: You can't do more than two player co-op on one box, so you'll need at least two 360s LAN-ed together for four player. And that 'good friend' of mine already beat the damn game. One of his friends got an advance copy due to a shipping SNAFU, so the beat the thing on Legendary in a total of about 10-12 hours.
Saint!
September 26th, 2007, 04:30 PM
They would put them together, jerks
I like arbiter and all but his armor could be soo much cooler.
RuudDude
October 2nd, 2007, 11:00 PM
I kinda liked Arby's armor. So...medieval. Anyway, I like the customizable armor in Halo 3 better. Mind you, I haven't created a character yet, so I don't know how customizable it is, but I know you can unlock new sets of armor (in the campaign, I believe). I really love the fact that you can play as an Elite this time and not get screwed too hard. They made a serious attempt to match their hit boxes this time.
Saint!
October 4th, 2007, 10:00 PM
Medival stuff never got me, especially not on aliens, the new elite armor is godly.
RuudDude
October 6th, 2007, 02:30 PM
Indeed. I like teh fact that you can change the pieces individually. I'm currently using the Flier helmet and chest, but standard shoulders. The new standard helmet is kinda weird, though. Why'd they add the projections below the mandibles?
Edit: I just thought...That might be only Half-Jaw's helmet since he's a Ship (or Fleet) Master. I didn't really look that hard at the standard helmet in multi.
Another thing. What's with downplaying the Arbiter so much? A lot of times he didn't appear (or appeared breifly) in the cutscenes where both he and Chief had been present for the prior gameplay.
Oh, and yay for knowing the ending now. I didn't go to bed at all two nights ago, and instead played for nine hours straight beating Legendary on Co-op. So much fun...
Saint!
October 6th, 2007, 04:12 PM
Yeah Arbiter seemed nearly useless the entire time, little or no plot development.
RuudDude
October 14th, 2007, 02:48 PM
Poor Arby. All the Elites play such a small role in 3....Stupid Chief's way less cool than any Elite, but Bungie focuses on him, just cause he's "human".
Oh, and yay. I've got all but three skulls and one terminal. Skulls are hard to get alone, 'specially on Legendary.
Saint!
October 15th, 2007, 09:06 PM
haha I tried playing Heroic after a brief lapse in my Halo 3 dosage, sucked. Owned by everything known to man. Terribly unlucky actually, I got killed so much, the Arbiter doesn't even sound concerned when he dies, a weak little "ahh." I got directly stomped on my a Scarab when it walks across the level, you don't even fight it yet.
RuudDude
November 4th, 2007, 12:52 AM
Yeah, those legs'll get ya. That's what's fun about the Mongoose. Fast enough to outrun just about everything, and with a rocket AI on the back, all you need to do is drive. I think that's one of the funnest points in the game.
It's kind of funny to watch Arby get killed by a sniper over and over. Since the sniper is far away, Arby'll jump back up but won't take cover, so *fwip* in the helmet again.
And yay, I managed to get all the skulls and terminals. W00T.
Oh, and Resident Evil 4 kicks all kinds of @ss.

I got all the skulls, didn't get the terminals but eh, whatever.

November 10th, 2007, 02:07 AM
The last real thing I have to accomplish is beating the campaign on Legendary solo. Unfortunately, not many people play on the LAN here anymore, and I don't want to risk double-registering my friend's box so we can play on Live. Thus it's the campaign and Forge for me.
Unfortunately, I can't play this weekend since I have a research project due, but I haven't started on it. I can't play next since I have a Computer Science project due then. I'm sure some kind of test will come up too. Yay college!
Saint!
November 14th, 2007, 11:27 PM
Honestly I'm sick of live, all you can really play without a half hour wait is team slayer, which get real old with the same bull**** levels.
RuudDude
December 3rd, 2007, 12:38 AM
Now I know what you mean. We were playing what the four-player objective matches are called, and every time we got VIP, it would end up a tie. We were supremely good at attacking, but it is impossible to defend against even low-skill players.
And eight-player matches on Valhalla were almost always a tie. It's just too big! Though I did find out I'm pretty good at Shotty Snipers there since we played it probably three times in one night.
Meh, I keep forgetting GW exists. I hadn't visited my Inbox in awhile, and there were still no new messages. That's really the only way I don't forget.
RuudDude
January 18th, 2008, 04:16 PM
And again, GW escapes my notice.
How was everyone's holiday? Mine was a bit disappointing since the best thing I got was a 2 Gb Flash drive to replace the one I lost. Woot. I knew I had no hope for a console since my parents already think I'm a problem gamer. But I got a totally smashing set of earbuds! Totally dulls the pain.
[/bump] (I think. Please don't merge post, please don't merge post, please don't merge post.)
Cool, if a month goes by between posts, it looks like the forum don't care!
Saint!
January 19th, 2008, 12:58 AM
Mine was disappointing aswell, only the things I bought myself truly brought joy, which was a ****ty sandwich, a survival handbook, and a ticket to Cloverfield.
RuudDude
March 26th, 2008, 02:34 AM
Well, at least you got some enjoyment out of the season, right? I never did go see Cloverfield, might be something to do since it is Spring Break.
Anyone play Bioshock here? I'm on my second playthrough, this time on my own profile so I can get the acheivements. However, I'll have to play through it a third time so I can see the ending in which you kill all the little sisters. Neither me nor my roommate wanted a playthrough where we kill them, since you get an achievement for saving them all. It's just so freakin' immersive! I almost didn't want to come home!
Saint!
April 1st, 2008, 03:54 AM
I played the demo to Bioshock, now while it is just a demo I didn't really like it. I don't see what so great about it being better than Halo. In my opinion Call of Duty 4 BEAT Halo 3.
RuudDude
April 3rd, 2008, 06:18 PM
I wouldn't even try to compare Bioshock to Halo. It's too different of an experience. If Halo has an atmosphere thats believable, then Bioshock has an atmosphere that draws you in and simply won't let go. It's unbelievably creepy to fight a Big Daddy while hearing 50's and 60's songs playing in the background. And the plasmids/ammo types make for some interesting strategery. That's not to say that Halo doesn't require strategy, but every encounter plays out the same: shoot until dead, and if you're about to die, retreat.
As for COD4/Halo, I loved COD's Campaign (even if I can't beat the epilogue mission on Veteran...Ugh). It provided a lot of different combat situations. However, there's no love lost on its multiplayer. I like being able to stand on a 'nade and survive (eg. Halo) and not die when grazed by a butterfly (eg. COD4). COD multi also makes for more punishing gameplay since people are harder to see and hit. One of the two fun games I had with COD was an agreed-upon knife fight, while the other I almost won on a 2-vs-1 handicap match with radar.

April 4th, 2008, 09:00 PM
Well Halo got exhausting with little change in gameplay or anything new really, levels remained a consistant playlist for matchmaking, just got tired.
COD4 was a new breath of fresh air, though its not without its faults.
RuudDude
April 5th, 2008, 06:56 PM
I can see what you mean. I realized I haven't played Halo since I picked up Bioshock, and I've done two playthroughs on that. I'm actually about to start my third so I can see the "evil" ending
Indeed, COD4 was refreshing, but I can't do multi! Everyone seems to play the same class, which gets pretty boring.
Saint!
April 5th, 2008, 09:33 PM
I just watched the endings on Youtube...lol.
