When I played guitar, I learned to play a lot of Green Day's stuff. I know they're not the usual band you'll hear, but never the less, I took influence from them.

This is probably not what you want for an answer, but as a kid learning piano, "I want to play like my brothers do!" As it is now, I'm far more advanced than they are and ever will be (for they quit playing). I guess siblings really can have quite an impact, and well, I suppose I got my wish too. :)

I have too many influences to name. I can't really pick one because I get new influences on a daily basis.
And did you have to make 6 threads?

Some of my stuff is influenced by the nice hard rock(like Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Jimmy Hendrix, ect.) and some Ska ppl(like Catch 22, Reel Big Fish, The Aquabats, ect.). I play drums so its fun 2 use different stuff from different types of music.

Slash is my influence for guitar, Flea is my bass influence
White Zombie
January 8th, 2005, 03:46 PM
Lyrical influences are probably Morbid Angel, White Zombie, My Dying Bride, R.E.M. and The Doors. When I sing, it could be a mutlitude of styles and I just go balls out and do it how I feel that day. Anything pure, I guess.

I get lots of ideas from Clapton and Freddie King. I play lots of blues. I'm also a nut for prog rock, so Robert Fripp is my personal god. Also get a lot from Zappa, Page, John Lee , and especially David Gilmour.

In terms of song writing and lyrics, James Hetfield. His riff-writing ability is also f*cking superb.
My other guitar influences are probably Dimebag Darrell (<3 his solos) and maybe even Dave Mustaine (although, not on the singing side of things).

I have a few guitar influences. I can play a little bit of Izzy Stardlin [of GNR fame] such as the famous opening riffs to Welcome to the Jungle and Sweet Child O Mine(remember..I learned Izzy's part, not Slash's). I can also take influence from my guitar teacher(who by the way, can play Slash's SCOM.).

Robert Fripp is sufficiently awesome, although I prefer his earlier work. I also take influence from Omar Rodriguez-Lopez of The Mars Volta, Jimi Hendrix, and whoever plays guitar for ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead.

I know I posted before about my influences nowadays. But the person who really turned me to rock music and those bands was my cousin Matt when I was 5. Then he tried to form a band. (Now they play gigs and stuff) I'm in the middle of forming a band. So I sorta follow in his footsteps and I don't realize it until I already do it.

Pete Townsend, James Hetfield, Adam Jones(Tool), and Stone Gossard are probably my biggest influences when it comes to rhythm guitar.
For leads they fall under S.R.V., David Gilmour, Jerry Cantrell, and Tony Iommi
But the band that made me decide to first pick up a guitar would have to have been Pearl Jam.

Now that I think about it, there's a few influences...
When i was young(like 8), I used to listen to the Chilli Peppers. I take alot of their drumming. Then, I got into heavier metal ****, and I took the heavy sledgehammer style, which is really from Zeppelin. Now, I'm all into Metal Licka, so I get some stuff from ol' Lars.
