The ESM:

The ESM is a club of high expectations. This club expects you to be one of the best sig creators on GameWinners. This is not just a club to help people with signatures, but a club that will show people that you are a great signature creator. If you fail to join, this does not mean that you shouldn't help people in making sigs, nor should it make you angry with the leaders for voting you out. If the leaders vote no, work on improving in the month before you return. Please take note that we don't just look at how well you make signatures, but your characteristics as well.

Since the ESM is not just for sig making, we give help to those who are trying to create their own signatures. Kat and Justin, as well as a few others, have basically covered everything about making signatures with tutorials in the Testing Grounds. If you still need help, this is the place you should be.


ESM Founders:

Icky, Kat, and Mayhem started the ESM on April 1st, 2003. With over 100,000 views, it's one of the largest and longest-standing clubs on GameWinners.


Basic requirements to join:
1. For good reasons, you must be a GameWinners member for at least six months. In rare conditions, we are willing to allow those under six months, but only if you are extremely good at making signatures. In any case of one wanting to join, post in this thread.
2. You must have great talents. Just knowing hex codes is no talent. You must be able to use your skills to the max, in what ever you do.
3. In most cases we would like for one to have skills in more than one area. E.g. ASCII creations and fading.
4. Attitude is a very important aspect. Fighting in this thread, or anything of this such will get you kicked out of ESM.
5. Your OWN signature, as well as any signature you make has to follow the rules of GameWinners. If its over the limit, and you have been contacted of such, then you must change it in order to stay in the ESM. If you post a sig to join that breaks the GameWinners rules, you will be immediately rejected.
6. You must show us at least one of your best sigs.
7. To enter, 2 of the first 3 voters to post must vote yes. If you are rejected, wait at least 4 weeks to try and rejoin.

Rules for nonmembers:1. No SPAM
2. If you have been told no, then wait at least 4 weeks before asking to join again.
3. If you are not member, don't help here, only post to ask to join. The Testing Grounds or Welcome Room forums are where you want to be if you want to help.

Rules for members:
1. No stealing sigs for use in a sig you are making.
2. Keep it in the size limit.
3. No censor bypassing.
4. If you know you can't help that person, then ask someone who knows what to do.
5. Keep all testing in the Testing Grounds (http://www.gameadvice.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?forumid=2).
6. The ESM leaders may kick out anyone they decide to for any reason. This will be done through another voting process.

Signature Rules:

1. Glow in one's sig must not exceed the strength of 15 at one time. This is not determined by adding up all the glows in ones sig together, but separately. So, you can have two separate glows with both at strength 15.
2. Double Glow is a two color glow. Both of these strengths added together in a sig, must not exceed 15. Yet again, this is not calculated by adding all the glows in the sig together, but as separate lines.
3. Signature Limit cannot exceed 10 lines in normal text (size 2) or 13 lines small text (size 1). Size 0 is the same size as size 1, don't act stupid.
4. Outside Links, meaning links other than GameWinners.com, are prohibited.
5. Follow the regular GameWinners Forums rules. No flames, no censor bypassing, no advertising, and all the other known rules.

Signature Rules:

Signatures cannot exceed 10 lines in normal text (size 2) or 13 lines small text (size 1). Size 0 is the same size as size 1, don't act stupid. Using lucida console, you may have 16 lines at size 1.
Signatures cannot stretch the post box in any way on 1024 x 768 resolution.
Any use of a tag that is outside its intended purpose is considered an exploit, and is therefore against the rules. This will result in sig deletion and possibly a loss of your signature privileges.

Images must be no larger than 500 pixels wide and 160 pixels tall.*
You may not have more than three images in your signature.
The collective file size of your the images in your signature must not be greater than 25kb, or 25,600 bytes.*
You may have one line of size 1 text above or below your image(s) if your image(s) is (are) 160 pixels tall. Of course, the smaller the picture, the more lines of text you may have.
*Most programs will give you this information when you try to save a picture. If you're unsure of an image's size, right click the image and select properties. The dialog box will contain both an image's file size (in bytes) and dimensions.

wow...been ages since ive been on here... (deja vu anyone?) i think i said that exact same thing like a year or so ago...but i definately agree...down with image sigs!

lets go back to the good ol' days where we have to look through 10 pages of vBcode to find the one "#xxxxxx" that's messing the entire signature up...

I'll let you take a guess at that one, haha. As far as a good reason the admin did it, the signature is in regulations, Only problem is the signature guideline crazyness they have is dumb. The error I was receiving was saying "13 line sigs is max." Which it is.

EDIT: Whoa, posts within three minutes of each other. That hasn't happened in some time.

EDIT 2: Also, is it bad that I kind of don't miss the crazy activity? Spending excessive amounts of time on GW grew tiring at times, even if it was time shared with such a fine lot of fellows. I've found my replacement hobbies much more enticing and, moreover, ambitious, even if instant recognition hasn't accompanied them like it used to in the ESM.

It should still be like that. I'm about tired of images. My sig was nuked for 1 year and 5 weeks because of them.
How the hell did you get your sig deleted because of an image? And to get it removed enough times that you actually lost sig privileges that long. Following the guidelines for them is extremely easy... All you have to do is right click the damn thing and read the properties. ASCII is way more dangerous. They can never make up their mind for text rules. They still won't flatout say if they're going by IE or FF nowadays. Stupid.

I don't even know what my sig is right now, lol. And Justin, your sig looks fine. Dunno what he's talking about. Hey, is there a font for Macs that is somewhat equivalent to Lucida Console? I always felt bad having a jumbled mess for Mac users but nobody would ever give me a way to fix it. I don't have a Mac so no way for me to figure it out. Dunno if Macs even have fonts the same way PCs do. Meh.

ASCII just takes entirely way too much time. Work and life get in the way nowadays. Can't just sit on my ass all day like in the good old days. =(
